Fine blanking is a subset of blanking and would fit in here well. Wizard191 (talk) 23:56, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What's a blank?

[edit]

The first sentence says:

Blanking is a shearing process where a punch and die are used to create a "blank" from sheet metal or a plate.

But what's a blank? There's no page for it and it's not defined here. Wakablogger2 (talk) 23:25, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've revised the intro and added a picture; hope that helps. Wizard191 (talk) 00:52, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, thank you so much. I frequently work with manufacturing terms but rarely get a chance to see things in action. The graphic in particular is a great help. Wakablogger2 (talk) 05:03, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Most of the metalworking and manufacturing articles could use schematics to help explain the topics. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to do it. Wizard191 (talk) 13:53, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
